How do maps affect the game?

Every map has 40 spaces: 22 properties (8 coloured districts), 4 transport spaces, 2 utilities, 2 tax spaces, Chance and Treasure spaces and 4 corners (Go, Jail, Vacation, Go To Jail). Prices and rents are balanced the same on every map, so the game stays fair whichever map you choose. The room owner picks the map; a map the owner has applies to everyone in the room. Expansion packs

The room owner can replace the Chance deck with the "Natural Disasters", "The Big Heist" or "Gambler" pack: earthquakes destroy buildings, no rent is paid in disaster zones, and heists steal a rival's money.
